DRAMA LESSONS
Odense Dramaskole - Risingsvej 122 Odense 5240In autumn 2023, I became a regular weekly teacher at Odense Drama School, teaching the children’s class for 5–9-year-olds. The classes focused on drama exercises, play, imagination, and storytelling. The season ended with an open performance of an original fairy tale featuring princesses, elves, and evil witches.
The weekly classes provided space for both more shy personalities and those who were captivated by the energy and joy of theatre. I placed a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment where the children could explore their creativity while also experiencing the joy of performing on stage.
In spring 2024, I joined the teaching team for the Teen/Tweens class for 10–18-year-olds, working alongside Astrid Rosa. Here, the teaching involved a more serious and in-depth approach to theatre. The students were introduced to basic drama exercises, improvisation, and working with scripts and scenes. The season ended with a musical theatre performance exploring themes such as friendship, loneliness, and courage.
In 2024, I also expanded my collaboration with Odense Drama School and began teaching drama to 7th-grade students at several public schools in Northern Funen. I led workshops ranging from one-day sessions to programmes lasting several weeks.
The aim of these workshops was to introduce students to the world of theatre through practical, hands-on work. We worked with drama exercises, team-building activities, improvisation, and learning to challenge their own boundaries. Each workshop programme concluded with short performances or presentations based on different themes. Working with this particular age group was always an exciting challenge, as the students had to learn how to collaborate, find the courage to step into the spotlight, and discover their own way of engaging with theatre.
