PRAISE THE LAND Teater Momentum — Vol. 16

A group of young urbanites moves to the countryside to become self-sufficient and live in harmony with nature. They call their new home The Commune - a response to the climate crisis and the apathy of modern civilisation.

To achieve their goal, they must peel back the layers of civilisation’s history, one layer - one millennium - at a time. But it doesn’t take long for the young city dwellers to realise that living with nature is far from straightforward. Their farming methods are nowhere near as profitable as those of their neighbours. And the closer they get to nature, the more hostile it seems to become.

From the intimate to the expansive, PRAISE THE LAND explores the land we call home and the communities we build upon it. When is land a defined territory with a flag? And when is it simply nature — the earth beneath our feet? Denmark’s history lies buried in layers of soil. Our relationship with nature has always been changing, but what should it look like in a time when the planet is becoming increasingly uninhabitable for us?

A performance about agriculture and nationalism, natural phenomena and cultural heritage. And about the longing to let go of consciousness altogether - and allow nature to make the choices for us.
