THE BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE OR THE END OF NATURE? In the heart of Denmark’s most beautiful landscape, across the flat fields of Samsø, the waves are breaking—not from the sea, but from motorway plans, activist dreams, and a politician in muddy rubber boots. KATTEGAT CONNECTION is a satirical play that takes a sharp, humorous look at the idea of progress.

On one side of the proposed bridge stands Steen, a passionate defender of nature, fighting to save the island’s soul from the noise and concrete of the motorway. On the other is Eva Jakobsen, a pragmatic politician who, armed with dry statistics and a white hard hat, champions the bridge as the future of Denmark. But even Eva begins to question her convictions when, standing by the roadside ditch, she suddenly finds herself in conversation with a rather peculiar tree frog.

WHO WILL WIN THE BATTLE FOR SAMSØ? Caught in the crossfire is Astrid, a young activist willing to risk everything for the cause of nature—including her patience with her boyfriend Sebastian, who is simply hopelessly in love with her.

And then there is Henning, the farmer who quietly watches his childhood home being sacrificed on the altar of progress, while trying to navigate the uneasy terrain between bitterness and the hope of a substantial compensation payout.

KATTEGAT CONNECTION walks the tightrope between satire and seriousness, exposing the contradictions at the heart of the debate. It takes you up close to the most strident voices of the climate movement, the rigid administrators of progress, and nature’s silent victims—and asks:

What are we willing to sacrifice? And what does “progress” really mean?
